Minted in Canberra between the years 1978 to 1991, the Pride of Australia gold coin series were produced in proof and uncirculated grades to exhibit Australia’s beloved native animals – the Wombat, Emu, Platypus, Frilled Neck Lizard, Tasmanian Devil, Echidna, and Squirrel Glider Possum. The $200 face value 10g 22-karat (91.67% purity) is highly collectible, with proof coins shipping in padded boxes, and uncirculated versions shipping in cardboard sleeves.
Coin Highlights:
The reverse was modeled by Horse Hanhe. Features a Platypus in its natural habitat. It contains the legend PRIDE OF AUSTRALIA TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS.
The obverse was designed by Raphael Maklouf. portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, right facing, crowned with necklace and earrings. Around this portrait is the legend ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1990.
